Resilience & Recovery

A backup only has value if it can restore the business.
Know you can recover.
Backup is an ongoing part of business resilience. DC9 manages workload protection, tests recovery and maintains the plans needed to bring systems back in the right order.

Protect what matters.
Wherever it lives.

DC9 protects your critical systems and data across on-premises and cloud environments, including the backups themselves.

On-premises

On-premises infrastructure, virtual machines, physical servers, private and public cloud workloads all need protection. So do Microsoft 365, email, collaboration tools, SaaS applications, identity platforms and critical business data.

Cloud

We assess what the service retains, what you can restore and where additional protection is needed. Microsoft 365, SaaS and cloud workloads need a recovery strategy matched to the business.

Backup

Immutability, isolated copies, restricted access and separate credentials help protect recovery data from ransomware. We maintain recovery points and assess their suitability for a clean restore.

Review your backup coverage   →
We do not assume it restores. We test it.
01
We restore.
Regular restores of files, workloads and systems check that backups are usable before an incident.
02
We validate.
Recovered services and data are checked against agreed test criteria, beyond whether a VM starts. DC9 records the results.
03
We resolve.
DC9 follows failed tests through to remediation, repeats the tests and updates recovery documentation to record the verified correction.
↑  BACK TO 01
Know what can be recovered before the business depends on it.
Review your restore testing   →
Business priority sets the recovery plan.
Not every workload needs the same recovery model. We agree protection levels against business criticality, recovery priorities, retention and compliance requirements.
←  DATA LOSS
RPO
defines the target limit for data loss, expressed as time. Backup frequency and replication are designed around it.
THE INCIDENT
TIME TO RESTORE  →
RTO
sets the target time to restore service. Critical workloads may need faster recovery than lower-priority systems.
Copies & separation
A 3-2-1 strategy maintains three copies, across two media types, with one offsite. Isolation and immutability strengthen protection.
Retention over time
Grandfather-father-son (GFS) retention combines daily, weekly and monthly points. Long-term retention is added where required.
Define your recovery priorities ↗
Recovery should be rehearsed
before it is needed.
The first recovery should not be the first test.
RECOVERY ORCHESTRATION
Bring services back.
In the right order.
We document your service dependencies and build recovery runbooks around business priorities. During recovery, we coordinate the sequence, check each service before progressing and work with your team to confirm it is ready for use.
FIRST
Build the recovery runbook.
We map network, identity, storage and application dependencies, document recovery priorities and define the sequence and decision points. Your team has an agreed plan to work from when recovery is needed.
THEN, IN DEPENDENCY ORDER
Coordinate and validate recovery.
We coordinate restores against the runbook, validate recovered services and record results and exceptions. We work with your team on business validation before confirming each service is ready to use.
